The cyberworld plays an important role in our lives. We download songs, movies, pictures and games from it. The cyberworld is a great place to communicate with people too. Most of us use Facebook, Myspace or Twitter to connect with our friends and families. When browsing web pages, you are actually connected to millions of people around the globe. This could be a disadvantage to us, but don't panic! It can be dealt with easily. Here is what you can do:

1. Check the websites you buy products from. They should start with "https" (the "s" stands for secure) and they should have a lock pad on the bottom right corner of the page
2. Don't give your details (i.e. Name, phone number, date of birth etc.) to people you don't know
3. Don't send your picture to people you don't know
4. Don't travel alone to meet someone you have met on the Internet
5. Don't give your information to non-secure websites e.g. Facebook, Myspace, Bebo etc
6. Don't open or respond to emails from people you don't know
7. Online offers that look too good to be true usually are
8. Print out a receipt of your purchase for your records
9. Never send financial account details to emails. If your bank wants to contact you, they will call or send an official letter
10. Keep your Internet security updated.

If you come across something or someone that is offencive or makes you feel uncomfortable and upset, tell someone you trust. It could be your parents, best friend or teacher at school.
